Frequently Asked Questions

Can I switch my registration from one race to another?
Yes, but only if the race you want to switch to is not already sold out. You will be charged the difference in entry fees in effect at the time of upgrading (e.g., half marathon to marathon). If downgrading — from the marathon to half marathon, for example — a refund will not be provided.

To switch races, email marathon@stjude.org.

Please note: A participant who completes a race other than the one for which they are registered will not be eligible for any awards (i.e., not be listed as a finisher with an official time)
Can I transfer or give my bib number to another participant?
The St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend has a no-transfer policy. It is imperative that the registration data associated with your bib number does, in fact, belong to you, the participant. If race organizers become aware that a runner has participated in one of our events with a bib that is not registered to that runner, both the runner and the person to whom the bib is registered will be prohibited from participating in subsequent SJMMW events for a minimum of two years.
Can I register for an event on race day?
There will be no race day registration for sold-out events.
Can I pick up my race number and packet on race day?
No. Race day packet pickup is not available for any race. Your packet must be picked up in person with a valid ID at Packet Pickup (during the Expo).
Can someone else pick up my race packet for me?
Runners are highly encouraged to pick up their own race packet and to verify information. However, if you cannot attend Packet Pickup, you may have a friend or family member pick up your packet. The individual picking up your packet must bring:

  • your completed Packet Pickup Authorization form
  • a copy of your confirmation email (which contains your bib number)
  • a copy of your photo I.D.

Note: Individuals may only pick up two race packets in addition to their own. If you are a committed Hero and have not met your fundraising goal, you will be required to pick up your packet in person.
Are refunds available?
The SJMMW has a no refund, no transfer and no deferment policy.
What are the age restrictions?
  • Marathon – 16 years old
  • Marathon Relay – 11 years old
  • Half Marathon – 14 years old
  • 5K – no minimum age, but participants 11 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult
  • Family Fun Run and Kids Marathon – participants must be 11 years old or younger, and must be accompanied by an adult

For all races, if a participant is under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must sign the registration form. Proof of age may be required.
What sports drinks and gels will be available on the course?
  • LemonLime PowerAde and Tri-berry Nuun will be available at each aid station (24 aid stations located at the 1.5 mile mark, then every mile from 3 – 25).
  • Various GU flavors will be available at miles 9, 15, 18 and 21.
How do I change a relay team member?
All relay team member changes must be made at Packet Pickup. Please advise the new team member(s) that they must be available by text message to sign an online waiver when the change is made at Packet Pickup. All changes will be made free of charge.
Can I run more than one leg of the marathon relay?
No. Teams must consist of five individuals.
Are strollers/baby joggers allowed on the course?
Due to safety concerns, we do not allow strollers, baby joggers, dogs, skateboards, bikes, etc., on the run course.
Is there a time limit for each race?
Yes. The time limit for the marathon is 6 hours, the half marathon is 6 hours and the 5K is 1.5 hours.
When and where will the finishing times be posted?
Within 24 hours after the completion of the event, race times will be posted in the Race results section of this website. In addition, racing bibs will contain a QR code you can scan after you finish your race for real-time, personalized results.

If you have questions regarding results/timing, please contact BestTimes Timing at results@besttimescct.com.
Is St. Jude the event sponsor?
No. The marathon is a collaborative effort of St. Jude and Memphis Runners Track Club (MRTC).
Do all event proceeds go to St. Jude?
We do our best to keep costs at a minimum, but, as with any major event, there is a cost associated with all SJMMW events. Once all fees are paid for the event's production, any remaining proceeds do go back to the hospital. The best way to contribute money to St. Jude is to raise funds as a St. Jude Hero.
Are the races capped? Why?
Yes. Registrations will be limited to ensure the safety and best race experience for our participants.
What is Juice Plus+?
Juice Plus+, the event's Presenting Sponsor, is a line of whole food–based nutritional supplements manufactured and marketed by NSA LLC, a privately owned company headquartered in the Memphis area. Juice Plus+ includes juice powder concentrates from 17 different fruits, vegetables and grains. Each ingredient is specially selected to provide a broad range of nutritional benefits.

In addition to financially supporting the event, the company and its people are committed to St. Jude in a number of ways. Juice Plus+ has an ongoing relationship with Target House and participates in a monthly activity and dinner with the patients and families. In 2010, Target House nominated Juice Plus+ for the Spirit of Giving Award, which recognizes outstanding Volunteers in the Memphis area.

How can I volunteer?

What is the St. Jude Heroes program?
St. Jude Heroes are participants who commit themselves to raising funds on behalf of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital while competing in a variety of endurance events like the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend. Anyone can sign up to run as a St. Jude Hero. Heroes receive their own fundraising website, entry to the Heroes race day hospitality area and an opportunity to earn great prizes — not to mention the chance to make a difference in the lives of children fighting cancer and other deadly diseases.

When is the fundraising deadline for St. Jude Heroes?
The fundraising deadline for St. Jude Heroes is December 31, 2015.
